As in winter 1996, Rirkrit Tiravanija used the Kölnischer Kunstverein as a refuge for everyone, his projects commonly refer to basic human needs. For his exhibition he didn’t just create a conventional art piece, but rather a space, that was open day and night in the center of Cologne. This space corresponded the exact measurements of Tiravanija’s apartment in New York, and contained all functions like a living room, hallway, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and lavatory.
