The title of the work refers to the S-Bahn station “Springpfuhl”. A stop on line S75 and S7 which connects the east of Berlin with its western part.
The sculpture resembles a column or an isolated architectural element. The surface of galvanized sheet steel was bent by hand, provided with precise patterns and partially painted. To bridge the supposed inadequacy of its function, Klotzek supplements the sculpture with a broom that reaches up to the ceiling; and so it seems as if the sculpture keeps the ceiling from falling down.
