Nr. 011, Hubert Runzel, Einfacher Kartonsessel, 1948
“The simple cardboard chair by Hubert Runzel is the standard model for all such cardboard seating furniture, it was produced as a blank, as can be seen in the collection. All other basic shapes for other cardboard seats could then be produced from a blank of this type, provided with fabric covers, but also used in the raw state. From the current perspective, such an armchair may appear poor and therefore corresponding to the post-reunification period, but cardboard furniture was considered modern and very popular due to its inexpensive production and low weight. ”
“Nr. 011, Hubert Runzel, Einfacher Kartonsessel, 1948” is part of Polzin’s fictional design history.
