Albrecht Pischel
* in Meißen, East Germany
He lives and works in Berlin
Albrecht Pischel’s conceptual art practice always aims to take place in between disparate mediums, genres or cultures, while reflecting on the conditions of the medium in use and its positioning within institutional and cultural frameworks. In photographs, films, installations, ready-mades, sounds and performances, he irritates the process of generating meaning and questions individual authorship as such, by incorporating other artists’ works in his projects. Pischel received several residency programs at Goethe Institute Bangkok, German Center for Venetian Studies in Venice and at Goethe Pop Up in Minneapolis. His work has been shown at Cho Why in Bangkok, Exile Gallery in Berlin, 1st Bangkok Biennale, Goethe Pop Up in Minneapolis and Supportico Lopez in Berlin, among other venues.
