Nr. 194, Georg Begang, Verknappter Hochstuhl, 1973
“Influenced by the shock of the oil crisis, attempts were again made to limit themselves to more traditional chair materials: wood, fabric and wicker. Ergonomically misguided seating options arose, which, from a certain perspective, looked like a chair, but could not fulfill the actual task of the chair. The shift in proportions was supposed to ensure use, but it didn’t. Nevertheless, these types of chairs were at times very popular among chair designers, because of their humor: they were also called the joke of the living room.”
