Nr. 149, Michele Soto, Unity (Entwurf für Vitra zur Wiedervereinigung), 1992
“Perhaps too precisely, ‘Unity’ described the reunification when it was submitted to Vitra. Michele Soto had drawn many hopes from the events of the reunification and put them into the concept for his two-parter. Two cubes touching but not physically connected, should represent the two previously separated societies. They did this not only through the color based on the classic, albeit twisted, communist red and the blue of NATO, but also precisely reflected the size of the population of the two societies through their volume. ‘Unity’ is considered the only West German commentary on reunification.”
“Nr. 149, Michele Soto, Unity (Entwurf für Vitra zur Wiedervereinigung), 1992” is part of Polzin’s fictional design history.
