Nr. 147, Nadja Schickedanz, Wessimilierter Stuhl, 1991
“Nadja Schickedanz’s design is also one of the few comments on the events of reunification and is therefore extremely relevant. The GDR chair has been given a new coat of paint; although it is formally assimilated through a new western surface, it remains a GDR chair. From a sculptural point of view, the chair is a precise prognosis for the functionality of the “development East” in the following years. It shows itself with a self-confidence, that complements his insecurity. The new “western clothes” are converted directly into a seat cover and not worn by the designer.”
“Nr. 147, Nadja Schickedanz, Wessimilierter Stuhl, 1991” is part of Polzin’s fictional design history.
