Map to Indicate (E.L., L.C.), 1992
In „Map to Indicate (E.L., L.C)“ Joseph Kosuth once again deals with the complex interplay of signifier and signified. As the depicted quote from Lewis Carroll’s book „Sylvie and Bruno concluded“ (1889) addresses the relation between the model and the world – in the form of the mile to mile map – the art piece is a twofold representation. On the other hand it also holds a joke about the german stereotype of accuracy.
