Rosemarie Trockel
Carpets 1987-1990
December 8, 2017 to February 24, 2018
Potsdamer Str. 97, 10785 Berlin
Rosemarie Trockel published a number of carpets with Equator Productions starting 1987, woven by tibetan master artisans. With symbols like Made in Western Germany or the Plus-Minus sign, then 35 year old Trockel commented on western patriarchic structures. This was transferred to weaving, a technical skill regarded as female. 10 different carpets from this era will be on display at Helga Maria Klosterfelde Edition in Berlin from December 8 on.
Rosemarie Trockel was born in 1952 in Schwerte. Recent solo exhibitions include Kunsthaus Bregenz, The Aspen Art Museum, The Serpentine Gallery and The New Museum. Trockel was awarded the Kaiserring of the City of Goslar in 2011.
